College girl commits suicide

KOLLAM: A 23-year-old computer student allegedly committed suicide after she lost the laptop in the hostel at Tiruvalla where she was staying.
Soumya, a MCA student at Mar Athanasius College at Tiruvalla and hailing from Chavara in Kollam district, might have taken the extreme step after her complaint to the college management on the issue fell on deaf ears, the sources said.
The laptop was found missing on March 14. The girl's body was found hanging in her house at Chavara yesterday, sources said.
A suicide note recovered mentioned about the missing laptop and the college management's "passive" attitude towards her complaint.
Meanwhile, SFI student-activists held a demonstration before the college principal's room demanding an inquiry into the incident.
