PM declines to comment on situation in Jammu

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh yesterday declined to comment on the situation in Jammu where violence has flared up over the Amarnath land row.
"I will not like to comment," Singh, who has called an all-party meeting today to discuss the issue, told reporters.
The government will brief the leaders of the political parties about the steps being taken by the Centre to deal with the situation and is expected to seek their cooperation in maintaining communal harmony in the state.
Apart from national political parties, all regional parties, including National Conference and People's Democratic Party, have been invited for the meeting.
