Santhosh Madhavan taken into custody

KOCHI: After week-long dramatic scenes, Santhosh Madhavan alias Amrutha Chaithanya, against whom Interpol had issued a look out notice for allegedly swindling about Rs 40 lakhs from a Dubai based Keralite woman in the Gulf, has been taken into custody.
The godman was picked up late last night along with his driver, Thomas from a house in Nayarambalam in Ernakulam. Sources said the 'swami' is being interrogated by Central Zone Inspector General Vinson M Paul and Kochi City Police Commissioner Manoj Abraham.
He was taken into custody based on a complaint by Serafin Edwin, a Keralite woman, who had alleged that the self-styled godman had cheated her of Rs 40 lakhs.
Two cases- cheating case under sec 420 of IPC and another one under Wildlife Protection Act for possession of tiger skin- were registered against the 'swami' on Sunday
His anticipatory bail application will come up before Kerala High court today. In his petition, he claimed that he was totally innocent and allegations against him were baseless.
