Solar: Oommen Chandy told to appear in court; No stay on penal action

Chandy is accused number five in the case. According to the case, the accused cheated Rs 1.35 crore out of Kuruvilla after he was offered concession under a Central scheme. The court ordered to pay back the amount with an interest of 12 per cent, totalling the amount to Rs 1.60 crore.

Chandy’s counsel had told the court that the order was passed without hearing his party’s explanation.

The money was allegedly taken from Kuruvila by a company called Sosa Education Consultancy. Company MD Binu Nair, Andrews and Diljith are accused number two, three and four.

Kuruvila’s complaint was that Chandy had recommended over phone to give money to the company. Kuruvila came in contact with Chandy through Andrews who had introduced himself as Chandy’s cousin.

Kuruvila also had mentioned in his complaint that Chandy had called him using his then gunman Salim Raj’s phone and he had taken Rs One Crore 35 lakh in a few instalments.
