School-timings to become earlier, from 8.30 am to 1.30pm
LAST UPDATE: Friday, 19 May 2017 - 7:26:03 AM
A quality control committee including a team of teachers submitted this proposal to the government.

Earlier the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KeSCPCR) had ordered the General Education Department to make the academic hours earlier. The changes suggested by the committee is based on this order.

The schools following the CBSE syllabus commence the classes early in the morning and end it by afternoon. This gives more time for both the students and teachers after noon. This practise is also supported by the fact that studies during early morning is scientifically proven to be better.

The current practise is that the classes for higher secondary students begin by 9.00 am, and classes for students till 10th standard begin by 10.00 am. This practise of two separate timings for students have caused disruptions of studies in many schools. Problems created by two prayer timings before classes begin has created to the suggestion of changes in class timings.
