Kerala HC raises suspicion over appointment of Tachankary
KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Friday raised suspicion over the appointment of Tomin J Thachankary as the ADGP in charge of administration at the police headquarters. The court asked whether the government exercised caution while appointing Thachankary in such a critical position.

KOCHI: Police have begun investigation into the matter of Pulsar Suni, the main accused in the abduction and rape case of an actress in Kochi, using a mobile phone while in jail. The jail superintendent of Ernakulam Kakkanad district jail where Suni is imprisoned will be investigating the case.
Private medical college fees: No hope for children of middleclass men
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The new increased fees structure in the private medical colleges across Kerala has made a degree in MBBS an unachievable target even for those talented children of ordinary middleclass and poor men.
Justice R Rajendra Babu Committee has ordered the annual fees for 85 percentage of the MBBS seats to be Rs. 5.5 lakhs.
Kerala engineering entrance score published
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Results of Kerala engineering and pharmacy entrance exams are out. Students can check your results at www.cee-kerala.org and www.cee.kerala.gov.in.
Among the 90,806 students who took the engineering entrance and 24,996 who took the pharmacy entrance, 72,440 and 21,349 students gained eligibility for higher studies respectively.
FIFA delegation impressed with U-17 World Cup venue in Kochi
KOCHI: The visiting FIFA technical delegation, after going around the main stadium and the practice facilities in Kochi on Thursday, has expressed satisfaction with the city as one of the venues for the U-17 World Cup.
According to the FIFA delegation, the venue, which is scheduled to host one pre-quarterfinal, a quarter-final and six qualifying matches, has undertaken all the work as prescribed by world football's governing body.
School-timings to become earlier, from 8.30 am to 1.30pm
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has decided to make change in the school timings from the upcoming academic year. There are two recommendations put forward –either make the school hours from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm without a major break in between, or from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm with a lunch interval for one hour at 12.00 pm.
The final decision will be taken by the government.
